History of Rivers Voyager

Built in 1977 in Western Australia, she was put in survey for 860 passengers plus crew and operated daily between Fremantle and Rot Nest Island in Western Australia. Transporting tourists, locals, and even diesel to the island (Voyager can carry up to 36,000 litres of diesel).

Although a very solid vessel with solid steel construction and weighing in at over 600 ton (light ship) she was eventually replaced in 1999 by a smaller but much faster ferry that was required at the time by the tourism industry of western Australia.

The vessel was sold to a Sydney consortium who unsuccessfully attempted to run charters and dinner cruises in Sydney Harbour for just under 12 months with very little success. Rivers purchased the vessel and took delivery in late 1999 and was put up on the slipway and went under full refreshment, including new galleys, bars, floor wall and ceiling coverings and naturally – furniture. Rivers Voyager is now used for dinner cruises, weddings, corporate events, and other private charters.
