Restaurant literally “ignites” during docklands festival

When Bellissimo signed up to participate in the Docklands Ignite Festival by featuring a spicy dish of “Fresh Garganelli pasta with chorizo sausage, chili and garlic”, they weren't expecting to put on their own fire show too.
Bellissimo’s participation in the winter festivities took an ironic turn when the restaurant literally IGNITED.
An electrical fault erupted in flames early Saturday morning (21st June) while the Head Chef was arriving to prepare for the busy day ahead.

Air conditioning ducts caught alight with most of the fire remaining at ceiling level. Sprinklers went off and controlled the blaze while causing much water damage to the carpet and furniture. The exact cause is being looked at by the fire investigation unit. Chef was unharmed by the fire.
While the docklands restaurant was closed for repairs a new pizza oven was added to the kitchen.
Bellissimo has since RE OPENED with a NEW MENU featuring freshly made pasta and gourmet pizzas.

Recipe: Cottage Cheese Dumplings (Topfenknodel)

Ingredients
Makes 12 dumplings (serves 6)
75g butter (unsalted)
2 egg yolks
150g cottage cheese
220g white bread, diced
128g light cream
75g cake flour
60g wheat semolina
2 egg whites
2g salt
|
Method
Pour light cream over diced white bread, allow to soak in, stir until smooth. Beat together butter and egg yolks until foamy, add cottage cheese and salt, fold in white bread soaked in cream.
Whip egg whites, add to mixture, then carefully fold in flour and semolina. Let mixture sit in refrigerator for about one hour. Form small round dumplings, drop these into simmering, lightly salted water, turn off heat, let dumplings heat for about 12 minutes.
Toss finished dumplings in buttered breadcrumbs and serve with your favourite fruit sauce: strawberry, raspberry, apricot, etc.
