North Gold Coast RSL Sub-Branch
On behalf of our Members and their famililies we write to thank you for your support for our annual fund raising raffle.
Our Sub Branch is growing and the number of veterans we look afer ever increasing so the demands on our resources and services are increasing with our WW2 veterans ageing and a new wave of much younger service men and women seeking support. You may not be aware that the RSL looks after all veterans, whether they are members of this Sub-Branch or not. All ex service persons are invited to become members, irrespective of their service, be it full time, part time or from an allied country.
The money raised is used to continue our Member benifits, provide funds for administration and to provide a wide range of services to our Members and their families.
This year, thanks to your generosity we were able to provide a fantastic fund raising activity with much needed funds being generated for the above welfare work.
Your supprot is much appreciated and we look forward to supporting your organisation where we can and you participation into the future.
Warm Regards,
Ken Golden, OAM
President

Ray White Surfers Paradise Muscular Dystrophy Ball
Well the Ray White Surfers Paradise Muscular Dystrophy Ball for 2010 has come and gone.
To be perfectly honest I was somewhat concerned that the Ball coincided with a particularly negative period of time for Australia. A fairly dismal winter period with a host of economic concerns and a hung Parliament. All consumer confidence reports showed a decline and so we didn't know what to expect.
What we knew was many people were not in a position to be particularly generous and so it is that I am eternally grateful to all of those who donated items for our auctions because despite a perfect environment to decline to offer items people such as yourself pushed aside any concerns about the economy and perhaps even your own personal financial situation and thought of others who are in desperate need of assistance and gave.
The night turned out to be a wonderful success and rated as one of the best Ball's we have had in terms of a happy environment, a really entertaining night and one where people left with the words "we'll be back next year".
We also managed to raise from donations on the night of $120,000 and through a grant from the Brain Foundation a further $120,000 providing invaluable financial support for the Muscular Dystrophy movement. Jerry Lewis, the famed American comedian, sent an audio visual recognition of the Ball and if you would like to view it please do so on www.rwsp.net.
I would like to personally thank you and try and pass on the thanks of not only the young children who will be the beneficiary of equipment that can now be purchased for them but from their carers who willingly give up their time but have been starved of funds through Government cut backs to buy vital equipment. You have had an enormous effect on the lives of people in desperate need. Thank you.
We wish you well in the knowledge that the more we give in life the more we receive.
Once again, thank you.

“dine out… help out" from 10th November to 24th December 2008
A BIG "THANK YOU" to everyone who has generously supported the 2008 Street Smart campaign.
THE GRAND TOTAL RAISED BY THE RESTAURANTS BELOW: $19,089.70
For the six weeks in the lead-up to Christmas, StreetSmart partners with restaurants to ask diners to make a small donation to StreetSmart on their bill. Every table is asked to add $2 or more to their bill, not even the price of a coffee or mineral water. It’s a simple idea that adds up to a big impact on the lives of people who are homeless.

YOUR $2 WILL
MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Baker & McKenzie
Thank you for donating a Rivers Restaurant Cruises gift voucher for two people for out 2007 GO Fund Super Raffle. This was a great incentive for staff to purchase raffle tickets and was instrumental in helping us raise several thousands of dollars for the GO Fund, to aid the Royal Hospital for Women and the Garvan Institute of Medical Research in their race to find an effective early detection test for ovarian cancer. Thank you again for supporting us in this initiative. It is very much appreciated, and has helped our staff to take positive action to make sense of a tragic loss. 2 December 2007 |
